Celebrating My Blog Anniversary with a Vacation

  • Someday Lesson: Nobody is so important that they can’t disconnect from the world for a brief period.

ahisgett on Flickr.comA year ago today I relaunched Someday Syndrome, turning it from a recounting of my personal journey into a Someday Busting resource for the whole world.

And so, to celebrate my one year anniversary, I’m going to take a vacation.

Yes, that’s right, as of today I’m going silent until August 20th – 11 days without a single blog post.

We’re going down to the Canary Islands with friends for a week plus spending a few days in Madrid afterward. I had been planning to do prescheduled posts and make my final few days before going really stressful by working twice as hard to prepare for the holiday.

Then I decided that the world would survive without an update from Someday Syndrome for 11 whole days and I could approach my vacation with a more relaxed attitude.

Yes, building up my business is important, but it’s not the only thing in my life.

One of the things I teach in the Vacation Clinic is that we are not so important that we can’t disappear for a bit without the world coming to an end. And what better way of teaching people than by example?

So, enjoy the next 11 days and I’ll see you on the 20th with the next installment in the Lab Rat Series.

(And if in the meantime you just survive without a Someday Syndrome fix, check out the email-based Vacation and Accountability Clinics or the Someday My Ship Will Come In ebook.)

  1. Have a great vacation! I too will be on vacation for my blog’s anniversary (though it’s only a mere six months for me). It’s a great time to take a break from blogging and just relax. Have fun! 🙂

I am just back from the UK and my 20 day vacation and I wanted to tell you that on your birthday I toasted you with 18 year old Scotch in Scotland.

I did not get to meet Andrew Hayes or Janice as I had hoped and I did have a wonder full time. Now I am home working on relaxing as the second tour was quite a workout…

Hope you have a wonder Full time and relax!

Lovely! Thanks for the toast. Nothing better than a good scotch in Scotland!

  4. Can’t believe it’s the 20th already! If it went this fast for me working, it must have gone extra fast for you, on vacation!
